Since its inception, it has grown to become one of the premiere film festivals in the United States. Phoenix Foley Alliance The James Foley Scholarship Fund (JFSF) works to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder a young person's ability to obtain a quality educational experience. JFSF seeks to create a three-way partnerships with high schools, the families of academically passionate, yet economically disadvantaged students in Phoenix, and JFSF. Through these partnerships, we can support young people receive the opportunity to attend a high performing high school, participate in extracurricular activities, benefit from honors and accelerated high school classes, and take advantage of JFSF's educational support services and programs. By giving these students this opportunity, JFSF is making a difference in the lives of deserving young men and women, their families and their communities.
PSPDK-9 The Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Unit was founded in 1980. The first two K-9s were "Sam" and "Hippy", both German Shepherd Dogs. Nearly all the dogs in the history of PSPD's K-9 program have been donated thanks to the generosity of civic groups, local business owners, and individuals who realize the importance of this special program.
Safe Schools Desert Cities Logo on Oranj Palm Safe Schools strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. We believe that such an atmosphere engenders a positive sense of self, which is the basis of educational achievement and personal growth. Since homophobia and heterosexism undermine a healthy school climate, we will work to educate school staffs, students and the public at large regarding the damaging effects these forces have on youth and adults alike. We recognize that forces such as racism and sexism have similarly adverse impacts on communities and we support schools in seeking to redress all such inequities.
Save A Pet Save A Pet is a no-kill animal shelter in operation for 30 years. Starte d by Mary Sydnes with two dogs from the street, it has grown over the years to house both cats and dogs and give them a new beginning in life. Save A Pet also runs a low-cost animal hospital open to the public.
Transgender Law Center Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. We envision a future where gender self-determination and authentic expression are seen as basic rights and matters of common human dignity.
